The 48x40 is the default, and for most warehouse work Grade B pallets do the job: sound, repaired, ready to take a load into racking or onto a truck. Sites shipping to retailers with receiving standards move up to Grade A pallets, which are cleaner and squarer and get accepted at the other end without an argument. Where a customer's freight comes in on odd footprints, custom sizes are cut to order.

Orders are placed by the stack or by the truckload. Regular users run a standing delivery, weekly or every two weeks, so the dock never runs short in the middle of a shift. One-off orders go out same week across Metro Atlanta and West Georgia.

Inbound freight arrives on one-way pallets that nobody wants to keep. They stack up along the wall, then in the yard, then in a trailer someone needed. Pallet removal runs on a schedule that suits the dock, and for sites that generate empties faster than a weekly pickup can clear them, a drop trailer sits on the yard and is swapped when it fills, so the team loads empties as they appear rather than stacking them somewhere.

Sites that both use and discard pallets at volume usually run supply and removal on the same schedule: the truck that brings the Grade B stock leaves with the empties. One arrangement instead of two.
